the story: early in my photography career, i flew to ireland to shoot u2 for smash hits. on the way to heathrow i stopped off at the photo store (keith johnson photographic in soho) to pick up some supplies, and while i was there someone broke into my car and stole my portable studio lights. i had to go back to keith johnson and rent a set of lights and then drive to the airport.
this was right before new year’s day was released. we went to belfast, where u2 were playing at the mayfield leisure centre. they weren’t that big in england or the rest of the world yet, but they were already huge in ireland... [more]
